ADGM and Chainlink

In order to influence global blockchain rules and best practices, Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), the UAE capital’s main International Financial Centre (IFC), has partnered strategically with Chainlink, a prominent player in on-chain finance.  The partnership, which was formally established by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), is a major step forward for the development of compatible tokenization frameworks and the promotion of innovation in the financial technology industry.

Enhancing Blockchain Regulation and Innovation

Under this alliance, ADGM will leverage Chainlink’s cutting-edge technical expertise and industry insights to support innovative blockchain projects through its Registration Authority. By integrating Chainlink’s suite of advanced services, the partnership aims to optimize the utility of tokenised assets while ensuring adherence to regulatory frameworks.

With the help of Chainlink’s innovative solutions, such as blockchain interoperability and verified data services, global markets have become more liquid, allowing for transactions worth over $19 trillion.  This partnership, which has the support of top financial market organizations, reaffirms ADGM’s dedication to advancing technological innovation, enhancing global connection, and developing a standardized method of blockchain governance.

Hamad Sayah Al Mazrouei, CEO of ADGM Registration Authority, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, “This strategic alliance further solidifies ADGM’s leadership in fostering blockchain innovation and harmonizing global regulatory frameworks. Our collaboration with Chainlink aims to set a global benchmark, ensuring transparency, security, and trust in the blockchain ecosystem.”

Advancing Regulatory Dialogue and Education

As part of the agreement, ADGM and Chainlink will actively engage in discussions on regulatory aspects of blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and other emerging technologies. A series of educational events and workshops will be organized to enlighten the UAE’s tech ecosystem on key subjects such as tokenisation, cross-chain interoperability, proof of reserves, and evolving blockchain standards.

Angie Walker, Global Head of Banking and Capital Markets at Chainlink Labs and Senior Executive Officer at Chainlink Labs Abu Dhabi, praised ADGM’s progressive regulatory environment, stating, “ADGM has built a strong foundation for tokenisation projects to thrive. Our alliance will propel the UAE’s blockchain landscape forward, fostering innovation and widespread adoption. We look forward to seeing ADGM-backed projects integrate the Chainlink standard to achieve seamless compliance, market connectivity, and secure on-chain services.”

Solidifying ADGM’s Role as a Global Blockchain Hub

ADGM’s standing as a global center for technology-driven innovation is further cemented by this collaboration.  By creating the first Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) Foundations Regulations in history, ADGM keeps raising the bar for blockchain adoption while providing a safe, compatible, and legal environment for decentralized initiatives to grow.
