Crypto Rally Builds Momentum

A quiet but notable rebound is underway in the cryptocurrency market, with Bitcoin posting one of its strongest monthly performances in over a year. The recovery has largely escaped broader attention, overshadowed by geopolitical tensions involving Iran and volatility across oil and equity markets.

Despite the muted spotlight, the upward trend in bitcoin prices appears to be gaining traction. As values climb, momentum is beginning to feed on itself—drawing in fresh capital and reviving a cycle of investor confidence that has been missing since mid-2025. Other major digital assets, including Ethereum, are also participating in the gradual recovery.

However, trading behavior suggests a degree of caution. Clients of IG Group have continued to reduce their exposure to both bitcoin and ether throughout April. While investors remain net long overall, recent selling indicates a “sell into strength” approach, likely driven by the cryptocurrencies’ underperformance compared to other asset classes in recent months.

Market analysts note that a decisive weekly close above the lows recorded in March and April 2025 could mark a turning point, potentially signaling that bullish momentum is returning.

Looking ahead, attention across global markets is shifting toward a packed calendar of economic events. A wave of central bank meetings is imminent, with policymakers navigating the economic implications of tensions between the United States and Iran. At the same time, more than a third of companies listed on the S&P 500 are set to report earnings, adding another layer of complexity for investors.

While these developments may temporarily divert focus from cryptocurrencies, analysts emphasize that bitcoin’s longer-term trajectory—and the broader performance of global equities—remains closely tied to geopolitical stability in the Middle East. The possibility of renewed negotiations between the United States and Iran could prove pivotal in shaping market sentiment in the months ahead.
