ISLAMABAD – In a landmark move to promote blockchain literacy, Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has partnered with Binance Academy to roll out a nationwide blockchain education initiative. The collaboration aims to equip university professors and students with the knowledge and tools needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving digital economy.

Under this initiative, blockchain training programs will be introduced in 20 universities across Pakistan, with a goal to train 300 educators and reach 80,000 students by 2026. By integrating blockchain into higher education, the program seeks to build a robust talent pool capable of contributing to both national and global technology ecosystems.

The program is an extension of the Global University Outreach Program (GUOP)—the world’s largest Web3 education platform—launched by Binance Academy in partnership with the Blockchain & AI Technology Center (BAITC). GUOP is currently active in 20 countries, with ambitions to reach over 200 universities in more than 50 countries, impacting over one million students globally by 2026.

“As blockchain reshapes the global financial landscape, empowering people with the right skills is essential to unlocking its potential,” said Bader Al Kalooti, MEASA Head of Growth and Operations at Binance. “This partnership with Pakistan’s Ministry of IT and Telecom represents a major step toward nurturing talent that will drive innovation and digital transformation.”

Supporting the initiative, Minister of IT and Telecom, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, noted the alignment with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of a digitally empowered Pakistan. “This program contributes to economic development and strengthens our country’s role as a source of globally competitive blockchain talent,” she said. “By collaborating with Binance and BAITC, we are giving our students access to world-class knowledge and preparing them to lead in the global digital economy.”

Since 2022, Binance Academy has already trained over 3,000 students in Pakistan across 13 universities and three provinces. The latest phase of the partnership reaffirms Binance’s commitment to responsible blockchain adoption and capacity building, in close coordination with national standards and educational frameworks.

With this forward-looking collaboration, Pakistan positions itself at the forefront of blockchain innovation and talent development, paving the way for sustainable digital growth in the region.
